About Kyra Ross, MHC-LP
I am a professionally trained, trauma-informed clinician who guides high-functioning adults experiencing a variety of personal, professional, or relationship issues. I have nearly two decades of success balancing high stress environments. My specialty is working with clients in the areas of boundary setting, stress management, burn-out, work/life balance, self-confidence/love/acceptance, life transitions, and breaking negative relationship patters. I candid and direct, yet warm and naturally empathetic, My therapeutic style is richly informed by a solid background in cognitive behavioral , strength based, and Rogerian therapies .
I am passionate about helping my clients experience breakthroughs in performance, relationship management, self-confidence, and self-acceptance. My goal for every client is to help them successfully adopt and apply the skills learned in therapy so they can positively reshape their negative thoughts and conditions and, ultimately, achieve sustainable success in various areas of their life.
My vast professional experience (which includes community-based work with bereavement, death, grief, and loss, as well as mental health issues including bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, and depression), lends a sharpened focus to the trauma-informed lens through which I base the foundation of my practice.
An active researcher in the anti-racism space, I have the distinctly innate ability to connect with diverse audiences. I skillfully address societal or overt individual racism as well as race-related or intergenerational trauma. And, I know that a thorough awareness of my clients’ intersectionality coupled with a solid understanding of how their multiple identities contribute to their worldview, will allow the necessary room for healing from various traumas.
I am eager to incorporate my years of yoga training into my therapy practice and I often uses body and breath work to holistically strengthen the awareness of the mind/body connection. My professional expertise and personal experience is firmly rooted in the idea that incorporating the whole person in therapy is needed for growth, healing, and the ability to flourish as an individual.
I am a Ram through and through, holding an undergraduate and graduate degree from Fordham University . I originally hail from sunny California, but feel as if i am a true New Yorker at heart. Outside of the office, I enjoy deepening my yoga practice, tending to my flourishing garden, and spending time with my beautiful young son.
