About Kenneice Tolliver, LMFT
I provide psychotherapy services to clients to help them explore their lives and find meaning in their relationships. I work to empower and encourage clients to be more self-aware, explore their feelings, and improve their ability to navigate their experiences. I like to explore a variety of therapeutic modalities to find what best suits each client as every client is different and one size does not fit all when it comes to treatment. I like to listen to my clients and ensure that what I’m hearing is what they are saying. I also like to let them know they have choices, especially since it’s their well-being that we are discussing.
In addition to psychotherapy, I work with couples to assist them in practicing more effective communication with each other. Sometimes what a person wants to say isn’t actually what is said or heard which leads to misunderstandings and arguments. I like to explore both sides of the argument and help my clients to find more effective ways of interacting with each other with the hopes that they will improve their relationship communication and strengthen their relationship.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (Individual) and assist clients with exploring and processing their traumatic experiences. I work with adults who have had traumatic experiences in childhood which still affect them today. I also work with adults who have experienced traumatic events as a result of acts of violence that continue to have a negative impact on their lives.
I am also a Certified Anger Management Specialist and assist clients with exploring situations that irritate, annoy, frustrate, and bother them. I try to work with clients to identify physical changes they experience that helps them better manage their anger-related emotions.
As a Certified Breakthrough Parenting Instructor, I work with parents to help guide them on their parenting journey. Kids don’t come with an instruction manual and sometimes the guidance of an objective voice helps to make things a little more manageable.
My clinical interests include working with single-parent families, African-American women, couples, multiracial individuals and families, and exploring the effects of family patterns on individuals and their lives.
Due to COVID-19, I am only scheduling telehealth (video) sessions for the foreseeable future. I encourage you to reach out and speak with me if you are wondering what the therapy process is like and how it might benefit you.
