About Tia Brooks, LCSW-C of Growing Roots Wellness, LLC

I am an intuitive, eclectic, affirming, and strengths based therapist who believes in supporting you in honoring your whole self. I do so by creating a safe and nurturing therapeutic space for you to explore you and create who you get to be freely without judgment. Furthermore, I support you by partnering with you and your internal and familial communities to strengthen coping skills, heal hurt spaces, and manage life’s tribulations.

I pride myself in working with adolescents and adults from various backgrounds to create and be their best selves. I use techniques such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, aspects of forgiveness, modalities of art, and other eclectic techniques that engage you in connecting your mind with your heart and creating a whole-body connection.

I have 10 years of experience in the Social Work field; from college community activist to Baltimore City community outreach specialist to therapist! Oh the places you CAN go when you remain dedicated and motivated to do things differently.

A bit about my practice:
At Growing Roots Wellness, we believe…

You are made of multiple parts, all of whom deserve to thrive and be whole in their own right.

Our experiences are the lenses with which we see the world, not right or wrong rather helpful or harmful.

You did nothing wrong, you adapted to life’s circumstances and it may no longer serve you.

Black, Indigenous, People of Color need places to heal at their intersections.

Multi-racial folx deserve to be in the spaces they align with and need places to heal at their intersections.

LGBTQ+ folx need places to heal at their intersections.

You deserve someone to show up for you when you find it hard to show up for yourself and who will honor you by nudging you to show up for yourself more .

We believe in intersectional work as we are made up of various identities that are impacted differently by our experiences. We specialize in working with Black, Indigenous, People of Color who identify within the LGBTQ+ spectrum, identify as multi-racial, identify as youth reentering the community from a higher level of care and those who may experience many of the identities mentioned above plus more.

We understand that evolution is a difficult journey and the beginning of the journey starts with acknowledgment and motivation. If you are looking for a therapist, you have acknowledged you want to do something different and are motivated to create and evolve your whole self. In this, we applaud you! If you are looking for a therapist for your child or adolescent, you are accepting they may desire some support around their experiences in partnership with what you provide as a parent. In this, we applaud you! You deserve this glow up!
