About Dr. Kristen Freeman, LMFT
“You’ve been holding it all together—for your family, your community, your workplace—but who’s holding you?” I serve clients in person and via telehealth.
The world feels heavy right now, and if you’ve been feeling the weight of it, you’re not alone. For many Black women, stress, fatigue, and the pressure to care for everyone else can leave little room for your own healing. I’m here to change that.
I am an LMFT (CA) and Certified Professional Life Coach (Nationwide) offering compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for those navigating the complexities of life, relationships, and identity. I specialize in working with clients who are managing transitions, such as school demands, relationship issues, caregiving responsibilities, workplace stress, racial trauma, and the quiet exhaustion of always being “the strong one.”
My practice supports adults across the lifespan, including multiracial and culturally diverse individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-worth, childhood trauma, grief, parenting, and postpartum experiences, and intergenerational cycles. Whether you’re seeking to understand long-standing patterns or simply yearning for a space where you don’t have to explain yourself, I’ve got you.
In our work together, you’ll find a warm, collaborative, and culturally affirming space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported—without judgment. There is nothing too big, too small, or too complicated to bring into the room. We’ll move at your pace, identifying what matters most to you and building a path forward grounded in clarity, balance, and healing.
I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and mindfulness-based practices to support nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and meaningful change. My approach is client-centered, rooted in deep respect for your lived experience, voice, and cultural wisdom.
I hold a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and a doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California. I am a certified ICF life coach, a certified Mindfulness Instructor, and hold a certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy from UC Berkeley.
Sessions are offered in person in Lafayette, CA, and virtually for your convenience. Fee: $225 per session. A superbill will be provided upon request.
You don’t have to do this alone anymore.
