About Alana Akong

You are the expert on your life and journey, and together we work on unpacking your thoughts and feelings, and ways to manage life’s responsibilities better and work toward relief. We will work collaboratively to develop coping tools and strengthen interpersonal skills that will allow you to restore authentic connections and bring balance to your life. I work with individuals and couples, particularly Women of Color, to share their thoughts freely, explore challenges, and to develop solutions and coping mechanisms that support overall wellness.

Even when we think we have the best skills, it can sometimes feel like we are losing grasp of key areas in our lives. As those strings begin to unravel, we can feel the impact of complicated interactions with family and loved ones. We might experience a disconnect between our goals and our current station in life. Together we address challenges at work, symptoms of anxiety, and even parts of our environment that feel out of our control, like challenges with fertility and family planning, or with the effects of racism and microaggression.

As a holistic therapist, I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy with attachment based therapy. We will explore your attachments to understand how your relationships impact your experience. Examining attachments allows me to support you by gleaning a deeper understanding of yourself and safe, intimate connections. Cognitive Behavioral therapy will enable us to identify unhealthy thought and behavior patterns so that I can support you in creating new and more rewarding habits. You direct the goals and pace, and I help you explore your process and highlight strengths. Together we further develop your coping skills and we continue to adapt to your therapeutic needs.

You deserve to feel heard and understood and find that peace of mind you have been looking for. I am excited to take this journey with you. If you are ready to take that next step, let’s connect!
